Ever look up a recipe and choose a top-rated one, only to end up scratching your head as you stare at a brick of what was supposed to be food? Or pick a poorly rated one and end up with an amazing dish that your family demands you make again? Or how about recipes with the notorious missing step?

We have all been there.

Hi, we are a mother-and-son duo who love cooking. I grew up in kitchens, both in home and working ones, and carried that tradition through with raising my son. We have traveled across the United States, lived in serval, and been to 38 of them so far, we are always up for our next food tour. With my two decades of experience in the food industry, in every position there can be, I have cultivated an understanding of herb mix magic and different regional tastes. Now that he is mostly grown and learning the finer points of cooking, we really enjoy looking up and trying new recipes, making well-known dishes from scratch, and adding our own twist to everyday meals.

In recent years, with the influx of food bloggers and “paid reviews” we all have noticed that some top-rated recipes aren’t really written in a way that works in the kitchen. Don’t get us wrong, we love making our own recipes, but when we make our own, we actually MAKE them. How else are we gonna know if they are good enough to eat, or serve to our foodie-filled family (let alone be publish worthy.)

Here we will take the best, and the worst, of recipes from around the internet world and take the guesswork out of them for you. You will notice right away that there will be no “jump to recipe” button as we don’t intend to give you a lecture on our family history with cooking before every recipe. Instead, each post will be structured as follows: The Recipe, What You Need to Know, Instructions, and lastly The Review & Modifications.

If you have a recipe you would like to see reviewed, or ones with missing or confusing steps, email us at guessworkkitchen@gmail.com, or find us on Facebook, Instagram, or Twitter (X) https://twitter.com/GuessworkReview. Thank you, we’ll see you in the kitchen.
